RAISING THE BAR

T’was one “WILD NIGHT”. (Winks at everyone who GOT what I just “said”) Last night, I had the honor of jamming the night away with a few of my law school friends, acquaintances and uhmm, not-so-but-steady-lang friends. I went to a concert organized for the 2006 Bar Operations feeling guilty and somehow hesitant that it’s been three weeks in a row that I actually had A LIFE outside law school, err technically it’s not really OUTSIDE the law school because the events I went to are actually law school-related. When I say “A LIFE” I mean actually having time to go out and drink with my law school peeps. I could blame myself for it or just blame the weather for being so conducive for procrastinating but the real reason is, I cannot allow myself to go on a FUN-drought again, I’m too weak to go through that now.

So there, my own thoughts sidetracked me, the real reason behind my writing this article is because I want to give you an idea of how much fun I had yesterday. First, I didn’t have to pay for my concert ticket, yeah, it’s FREE… PRO BONO baby! Who could resist such an enticing offer? Since every section had to pay for ten tickets, the only pertinent thing to do was to give these ten tickets away to the willing, i.e. ME. At first, we didn’t really plan on going because… I’m embarrassed to say this… GUSTO SANA NAMIN NILA CES at ANA NA MAG-ARAL. [Somebody shout GEEKOID ALERT! GEEKOID ALERT!] but because the idea of not paying for a pricey ticket is just so yummy, we resolved to “CHECK IT OUT”.

After our CRIMINAL PROCEDURE class, in which I got called to recite. Ay sige side kwento ulit, I got called na nga to recite for Criminal Procedure. My day didn’t really start right because first, I didn’t know that we had a make up class for SALES therefore I didn’t bring my SALES stuff so, even if I did study for it, I still felt unprepared because my highlighted weapons aren’t with me. Then, after SALES [yeah, I didn’t get called, lucky bastard] I found out that we’re finished with RULE 110 and we’re now off to RULE 111. It’s bad enough that I didn’t read a single page, but what’s worse is that I know I was on deck. I wanted to absent myself from class since my prof respects cuts but I didn’t want to because I promised myself that I wouldn’t be absent anymore and I have to start taking responsibility for the consequences of my actions and my being irresponsible. Kaya, nagtapang-tapangan ang LOLA mo. I got something good na rin naman out of it. True enough, God didn’t really let me get away this time, I got called to recite. My recit started out really bumpy, nothing could be worse than not understanding your professor’s question. My ANGEL for that day was Jomaeto. I wouldn’t say na why but JOMAETO, you’re the best. Anyways, I survived my first Criminal Procedure recit, passed it (keeping fingers crossed). Balik na sa main kwento,

After Crim Pro we went to the Powerplant to eat dinner. Bagong-bago, KFC. Maraming mga masayang kwentuhan at maraming mga kalokohan na kwento after, we were off to Starbucks. Mel and I went back to Ateneo pala so I could check my mail and so I could search for the Mac Donald v. National City Bank of New York and so she can take care of some stuff at LSAC. I really tried na magpanggap pa, pagdating ko dun a familiar voice called out my name… I bumped into Roanne. She was my schoolmate and orgmate. She’s working pala for Colgate Palmolive, we had a short chat and we had to let each other go because she’s with her friends and I am supposed to be studying. I succeeded in studying for about 45 minutes pero syempre dumating na rin si Pattykins at na-realize na it’s time to check the party out.

According to reliable sources, uhmm mejo wala pa arw tao. Kasi nagkakasalisi. Kumbaga pagdating ng isang group of people, wala pa un iba so aalis muna sila.. tapos dadating naman this other group of people, tapos aalis uli. Kaya we decided to go na so we can stay na and get a Feel of the CROWD. Hmm, ok naman. Ako nag-enjoy ako because I was with myself, in other words kaya ko mag-enjoy kahit na magpatugtog ka lang jan ng radyo. I’m not really the right person to ask if the party was great or not because either way I will find a way to make myself happy. The first band was, I think, from the law school. They were good naman. Then after they performed nag-break before mag-start ang Brownman Revival. Ces, Carlo and I decided to make use of our free time for YOSI and to go to the washroom… sa Starbucks. Bakit namin ginawa un? Kasi we wanted to drink water. Tsaka parang fun dun e. [inside joke] After the Yosi break, we went up agad kasi Brownman Revival was already playing. Saya. Love ko talaga ang Reggae Music, it makes me wanna go to the beach. SIDE KWENTO ULIT: Under kasi my off-shoulder top, I was wearing my favorite bikini… wala lang so parang talagang bagay na bagay for Reggae. Hehe. During the concert, I got to meet Patty’s “friend” [hmm, yihee Patty.. haha] Chad. He is such a nice guy, he showered me with a lot of really flattering compliments, BAIT BAIT! He was such a gentleman pa dahil he offered to throw na my empty drink cup for me. To think na we just met. Kaya Patty, BOTO AKO SAKANYA. Kidding! Apir!

Syempre I sort of danced the nightaway dahil sa reggae music. After Brownman Revival, Ces and Carlo decided na to leave. Kayo talagang dalawa ha! Therefore, Patty and I went back upstairs after another YOSI BREAK. That’s when our worlds were rocked by the FABULOUS Kala vocalist. He was more than willing to take his clothes off. GOOD FOR HIM. I refuse to say more. Di ko kinaya ang iyong confidence. Aprub ka jan. Mel’s “ANG ATE” Ceia came din pala para makigulo kasama namin. True enough, talaga namin nagkasundo kami sa aming mga side comments regarding a lot of the things around us. Basta, my night got better because of her. Urbandub played last. Un na ang wild part of the evening.

The night was worth it naman. It ended with me riding the “GIRLS GONE WILD” ride with Ceia, Mel, Haze, Patty and her roomie Thea. Pero di pa tapos doon. When we got to Haze’s house, she realized that her sister, Jaja fell asleep. She didn’t have her keys with her therefore, di nya mabubuksan ang pinto. Para kami akyat bahay, desperately trying to reach the lock sa door through the gate. Kasi naman my really skinny arms can’t go through the rehas. Isipin mo na lang, if not for him, you would still be reaching for the lock hanggang mamuti ang mata mo. Ayun na nga, all’s well that ends well.

Twas one WILD NIGHT.
