The Hanging Memory



Remember how I would put my arms around your neck
so you can actually feel the beating of my heart?
How you would let this moment linger
by pulling me closer  and letting the space 
(or lack thereof) define

this fleeting memory?

Remember when what used to be a loving embrace
became the agonizing fear that choked us into

letting go?

Remember when I said I love you,
and you said you love you, too?
