I Lack the Wit.

I lack the wit to write about the things that transpired during the long weekend. Maybe it's because of the fact that almost everyone's been talking and yeah, writing about it that i find it totally pointless to embark on another "discussion" about who's to blame in the turmoil that we, Filipinos are in.

It's far too humiliating. And annoying. And disgusting. And uhmm, the list goes on and on.

There really is no one to blame. Just blame our far too-wide streets for being too conducive to really big rallies. Blame Fort Bonifacio for being so open to the media and for being tolerant enough to allow the aggravated Marines to ask a few questions about their Commandant issues. I repeat, blame Fort Bonifacio, not the officers, just the place for being too accessible. Blame Malacanang for being so attention-grabbing that people tend to crave for just a glimpse of how amazing it is to get that much attention. Blame the Palace for being grandiose. It's a simple Bitch Factor.

People write about the possibility of Martial Law as if they even bothered to read how Martial Law can come to place... blame the law for being a boring read. Blame the camera for not shooting at the right angle which could've made GMA look more convincing when she said, "everything's under control."

Go on. Let's start another finger-pointing festival. I think we should come up with a Finger-pointing Holiday. Let's dress our fingers up and indulge in a day of extravagant finger-pointing or maybe a night, think LuvaPalooza. We can call the event, "Finger-lickin'" and make KFC sponsor it, or "Dalirian" or uhmm, "Turo-turo". Perfect, "Turo-turo" will not only embody our food but also our political culture. Maybe we can make another record, the biggest number of people engaging in a finger-pointing event ever! Although we've been doing it for the longest time, at least we can rechannel it into something positive. That'll be the best therapy for us. After all, Olympics are made to prevent wars right? Maybe, just maybe, this festival will exhaust us.

PROCLAMATION DECLARING A STATE OF NATIONAL EMERGENCY

WHEREAS, over these past months, elements in the political opposition have conspired with authoritarians of the extreme Left represented by the NDF-CPP-NPA and the extreme Right, represented by military adventurists--the historical enemies of the democratic Philippine State—who are now in tactical alliance and engaged in a concerted and systematic conspiracy, over a broad front, to bring down the duly constituted Government elected in May 2004.
WHEREAS, these conspirators have repeatedly tried to bring down the President;
WHEREAS, the claims of these elements have been recklessly magnified by certain segments of the national media;
WHEREAS, this series of actions is hurting the Philippine State--by obstructing governance including hindering the
growth of the economy and sabotaging the people's confidence in government and their faith in the future of this country;
WHEREAS, these actions are adversely affecting the economy;
WHEREAS, these activities give totalitarian forces of both the extreme Left and extreme Right the opening to intensity their avowed aims to bring down the democratic Philippine State;
WHEREAS, Article 2, Section 4 of our Constitution makes the defense and preservation of the democratic institutions and the State the primary duty of Government;
WHEREAS, the activities above-described, their consequences, ramifications and collateral effects constitute a clear and present danger to the safety and the integrity of the Philippine State and of the Filipino people;
NOW, THEREFORE, I Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, President of the Republic of the Philippines and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested upon me by Section 18, Article 7 of the Philippine Constitution which states that: " The President…whenever it becomes necessary,…may call out (the) armed forces to prevent or suppress…rebellion…, " and in my capacity as their Commander-in-Chief, do hereby command the Armed Forces of the Philippines, to maintain law and order throughout the Philippines, prevent or suppress all forms of lawless violence as well any act of insurrection or rebellion and to enforce obedience to all the laws and to all decrees, orders and regulations promulgated by me personally or upon my direction; and as provided in Section 17, Article 12 of the Constitution do hereby declare a State of National Emergency.
IN WITNESS HEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.

EDSA Revolution: A Worthy Struggle

 At this particular point I time, a lot of Filipinos are engaged in their own conversations revolving around what we have become after the EDSA Revolution. Sadly, although the People Power Revolution, for a time, was perceived as a triumph of democracy, at present, it has become a constant reminder of how we have failed in achieving progress, or fell short in fulfilling our potential as a nation. After countless debates, and an infinite number of celebrations, our "victory" has become, to the younger generation, an empty achievement. It's a sad development, and unless we try to understand the responsibility that come with this bloodless revolution, we, as a people, will remain to be unworthy of the gains that a democracy can give to its truly deserving protectors. Let us keep our dignity intact, fellow Filipinos. Let us fight for the freedom that our predecessors have gifted us with. #NEVERforget. -

When you feel like you wanna make your world noiseless, the best thing to do is stare at an object and focus. Life will all of a sudden make you travel through time and will make you rediscover how magical your boring life can be. You surprisingly see the people you spend all of your time with in an eery-like manner. It's nice to goof around once again with my law school peeps. And it's way better when I am goofing around with my law school peeps and my college friends. Japhet was in Starbucks this evenin and he got to hang out with us NERDS. Paula also came and t'was a hilarious night.

What I could not stand was the fact that they practically made my night CRAZY by continuously tormenting me. "How?" you might ask. Sa pamamagitan ng panunukso nila sa akin at sa aking "alleged dyowa" na self-proclaimed naman ni Hazel. Guys, ok sana e pero wala talagang feelings. Bakit di nyo na lang ako tuksuhin sa aking tunay na napupusuan? (i.e. BSB...) Sa tingin ko ay nahahalata na nyang may nangyayaring kababalaghan at sa aking pananaw ay unti-unting nasisira ang aming pagiging magkaibigan dahil sa ainyong kabaliwan. Kamusta naman si Japhet na sadyang nag-lettering pa sa aking handout? Kamusta naman si Melo na finorward pa ang kanyang number? A for effort guys. Good job. Hazeeeeeel! Pagbabayaran mo ang lahat ng ito.

I almost fainted this afternoon because of stress. I wasnt ready to recite for Oblicon. Just when I was trying to get strength from Ana, she just had to whisper... "Pass na ko." with a resigned look. Hay naku Ana! At dahil nga ako ay may dilang anghel, Fr. B just gave a lecture on Article XIV Sections 1-8. Whew! Sabi ko na nga ba walang recits e.

I heard that Anton's pursuing his passion for teaching. He won't be around next sem 'coz he'll be teaching in Ateneo (Loyola). Another future goodbye's to be uttered huh? Sadness.

Just the thought of people appreciating everything that we prepared for really made my day. We're so glad that we at least made our classmates happy during the 30 minutes that we conquered the stage. I went to the UP Fair the 2nd time this week. We just felt that we needed to celebrate because of our report's success. [Nakahanap ng dahilan!] Shem went shopping again. At ako? Na-harass lang naman sa isang pulutong ng mga kalalakihang im sure di taga-UP na bigla na lang nag-emerge nang ang minamahal ko nang si Bamboo ang nagpe-perform. Nakakalungkot na kelangan ko silang maamoy at kelangan nila ako masiksik kung kailan namang kailangan ko sanang mag-concentrate sa aking minamahal. Oh well Rockwell. Got to eat ISAW muli.. ayon nga kay Shem, "Guys.. I WANT ISAW" (Say it the Assumptioooon way,hehe) Lea and Ces got tattooes. Natupad ni Lea ang kanyang pangarap este pantasya, piangkaguluhan sya ng mga kalalakihan habang nagpapa-tattoo sya. Masaya, masaya.

Ano ang di masaya? Nasira ko din ang phone ni Mel. Un Memory Card ko pala ang infected ng virus. Ayun na, so nun tina-transfer ko un contacts ko, bigla na lamang ding nag general system error ang phone ni Mel. Good job PAKING BAYRUS!

How did I celebrate my Valentine's? Simple lang. I rocked with Ces, Ana and Haze at the UP FAir! Woohoo.

Ayon sa kwento nila Pi at Ces, topakin ang mga tao kanina. I came to a conclusion na it must be because I wasnt there to make them feel happy. Ayy feelingera talaga.

Da best un kwento nila about sa pagpapanic ng mga tao dahil wala ako. Ito daw ang mga paraan na naisip nila para ma-contact ako. [Dahil nga my phone gave up on me] Laughtrip talaga.

1. Hanapin ang landline number ko sa directory. So nag-net sila.
2. Hanapin ang address ko sa net, pero mahihirapan sila dahil maraming Monsod sa mundo.
PERO AND PANALO AY....

3. Pumunta sa kanto na binabaan ko pag hinahatid nila ako at magtanong-tanong sa mga tricycle driver kung alam nila kung saan ang bahay ko.

Pero buti na lag naisip nila na imposibleng di ako dumating. At buti na lang naisip nila na nasa Starbucks lang ako. Hay naku, mga topak kayo!

I was left alone last night because Ana and Shem went home early. Shem didnt have a choice and the reason why Ana had to go home was "nasisikipan sya sa damit nya". Ayun.

While I was reading my Oblicon cases, a familiar face emerged. T'was Mr. Tijam. Ang saya, at least nagkaron ako ng kadaldalan kahit sandali. In fairness tawa lang kami ng tawa. He was waiting for his friend Jen, whom I got introduced to. Natuwa ako sa aming conversation at mejo nagliwanag ang aking kasing-gloomy ng Oblicon na gabi. Salamat mga unexpected guests. Apir.

Natawa ako dahil ayon kay TJ, tumakbo raw sya sa Student Council in the past. BIgla ko nanaman namiss ang UP, ang ECOSOC tambayan at ang lahat ng mga taong konektado sa Peyups. Haaaay. Muntik na nga nila ako ni Jen mapapayag na makipag-inuman na lang sa kanila. Pero buti na lang nanaig ang kabutihan sa kasamaan, nanatili ako sa Starbucks upang basahin ang mga kasong naghihintay.

1. I was buying my stock of colorful highlighter at Office Warehouse and just when I was about to fall in line, it seemed like OFFICE WAREHOUSE was the place to be and an unusually long line emerged in front of me.

2. While waiting for my turn, Ana was waiting outside. We were desperately trying to communicate so I was raising one of my brows, smiling and giving her the "what are you talking about?" look when I saw the guard smile. To my surprise and understanding, the guard thought I was actually smiling at him. Uhmm, "Manong? Did you really think we were flirting?" Jus ko po.

3. After 10 years, I was still in line and right when I was next, the woman before me's credit card just refused to work.

4. The woman before the woman before me (ok, im being incoherent, i dont care), returned to demand that she be given her receipt. They spent MORE TIME looking for the VERY VALUABLE receipt only to come up with a solution... reprint the receipt. Thank you very much.

Today:

1. I was supposed to watch a flick with my buddy, Angel. Voila, I forgot to charge my phone. Wasn't able to use it the whole day. Nobody brought a charger. Saya. I didnt play badminton pa. Mas masaya.

2. I'm kind of ok with the idea of spending another Valentine's day with my friends. But uhmm, one of my barista friends had to ask me, "Eunice, anong plano mo sa Valentine's? Dalin mo naman dito un date mo."... At napaisip ako, gusto ko pala ng date para sa Rockin' Revival. Therefore...

3. Ah, Kay firmly believes that ... "Waiters never treat her nicely whenever she's with me." I dont know what the rationale behind her conclusion is, but I still think it's sooo effin' funny that she thinks that way.

4. This is the nth time that Pi and I wore tops with the same color. Ang creepy na.

New Addiction

I found two new addictions,
(1) answering Tickle Premium Tests and
(2) browsing through Multiply sites to download songs and to just read what other people's lives look like.

I dunno, it's just that lately I've been experiencing a bad case of discontent. It's not the "im-serious-i-dont-like-my-life" kind of discontent but it's more like the "isnt-there-anything-new?" type. My first new addiction is proving to be more productive because I get to learn more about myself. It's the second addiction that's gonna get me in trouble...

I just realized that my profile will appear in the sites that I checked out. Now, my identity will be revealed unto them and they shall forever be bothered by this creepy, stalker-material woman who's been lurking and reading her way to their not-so-privy lives. It just fascinates me that these people are connected to me. We have "common friends" and the more amazing realization is... We may become friends in the future. Ang saya no?

When did I come into the realization that it's an addiction? When I realized that I actually spent time reading their blogs, looking at their pictures and knowing more about them. Above All... T'was a Tragedy.

I woke up this afternoon [yeah, i overslept, again!] to the voice of Manang Inday, our laundry woman. She was getting the dirty clothes from my room when my half-awake mind overheard her saying something like, "Manood ka ng TV 'nice, kedaming namatay sa ULTRA..." I was so startled by the word NAMATAY that I instinctively got out of bed and turned my TV on.

I all of a sudden remembered that my brother left this morning and I had no idea where he's headed. For a split second I felt fear. He goes to ULTRA once in a while because of his sport and since i'm pretty much out of the "loop", I didn't know that the event in ULTRA's Wowowee's First Anniversary. I felt relief when my sister said, "Ate, Wowowee un sa ULTRA, sa tingin mo ba pupunta dun si Kuya?"

I couldn't help but feel bad not only for the victims but also for the production staff of the show. I tried to find out why the stampede happened and there were a lot of hearsays, one of which was that someone from the crowd shouted "bomb!" thus startling the already agitated crowd. But as of the moment, all that the ABS CBN is saying's that the cause of the whole tragedy was the people who were at the back of the "line". They were allegedly pushing and desperately trying to be given the chance to get their passes. However, since the entrance was downward-sloping, the gate which was closed to calm the people down gave in, the people in front fell and the people at the back kept walking and pushing. I could not imagine how scared the children and the old women were. Just thinking of such a horrifying scene makes me close my eyes.

Some people say that this is a reflection of how poverty made the most out of these Filipinos. Some say this is a manifestation of man's desire for wealth. But for me, this is not the time for another finger-pointing, this is not the time for us to put it in the list of "BLAME THE GOVERNMENT FOR... _____". This is another call for us to be of help, this is a reminder that we never really know what God's plan is... But above all, T'was a tragedy.

Let's pray for the victims.

I bumped into a few of my Econ friends kanina sa Starbs. Pauwi na kami nang marinig ko ang aking pangalan. Hanggang ngayon natatawa parin ako dahil pinaalala sakin ni Ces na nung college, minsan sa aking buhay ay tinawag nya akong... BOGART. Tangina, Bogart talaga eh no. Si JEck im sure ay isa sa mga may pakana. Nangyari ito nung naka-sporty mode ako kaya pumasok ako sa school na nagpapaka-maton. Therefore, BOGART. May mas papangit pa ba dun?

T'was Rain's birthday yesterday and the event gave me the chance to drink and be merry with my barista friends. It's always fun to stop once in a while and meet new people. I got to meet other baristas and two senior law students in Ateneo, Ana and Leslie. Leslie's an iskolar ng bayan too and well, she's afraid of cats. Hehe. T'was a fun fun night. Sana mahanap na ni Rainy ang lalaking makakapagpatibok ng kanyang puso. Sana ako rin. hahaha. Charvix, kamusta naman ang discount card sa Sogo? Dara, yosi kung yosi... Nawa'y makuha mo ang iyong leave. Si Yumi na masakit ang ulo kahit na di naman uminom.
